Biography

The Book of Genesis is the definitive Genesis tribute act. The band reverentially recreate the progressive era of the old masters, from the debut Gabriel helmed From Genesis to Revelation to the Phil Collins fronted Wind and Wuthering era. Sampling from the entire career span of Genesis, including myriad costume changes and an impressive light show, you could close your eyes and virtually time travel to the surreal drama of the early Genesis story. The band’s shows have been attended by the likes of ex-Genesis guitarist Anthony Philips and former sound engineer Richard Macphail. The band has even played a benefit gig at Charterhouse, the public school that Genesis members Peter Gabriel and Tony Banks attended, solidifying the Genesis connection and adding to an already concrete live reputation. No mere copyists, The Book of Genesis is a unique take on the Genesis canon that stands alone as a live experience.

The band are a colourful bunch themselves, fronted by the irrepressible Mike Morton, a veteran of the stage and indeed screen, who also fronts the acclaimed prog outfit The Gift. Mike is given ample support from the one and only Orange Turbaned drummer Phildas Bhakta and virtuoso guitarist Bob Arnold. The redoubtable steady bass is provided by Kirk Watson and the essential keyboards are played by Howard Boder, both of whom also play with Mike in The Gift.
