Jane Taylor, the award winning singer songwriter championed by Radio 2’s Jonnie Walker is about to launch a very special Winter musical which will be toured throughout the UK and promoted on BBC Radio 2 in a live session with Bob Harris in November.

After opening for Jools Holland and Paolo Nutini, performing a sell out tour last year and celebrating the success of her second album ‘Compass’, which was produced by Mercury Award nominee and Richard Hawley producer Colin Elliot and which also just won ‘Best Album’ at last years Independent Music Awards, Jane has begun an entirely new project, a Winter musical with a difference. One that is also set to become an original published children’s book and an ingenious animation.

The idea for a musical began during her Winter tour last year when Jane and her band performed a brand new song called ‘Mr Claus’. It was a sassy, smoky, raunchy number that seemed to engage the imagination of her audiences so much that Jane decided to turn it into an actual story.

That story grew into a proverbial tale about a down and out Santa Claus who found himself quite lost in the high tech ‘order on line’ modern world. The story then launched a series of songs that blossomed into a musical all written by the JT Band.

Just for good luck the opening track to the musical, ‘Oh December’ , was released as a single at the end of 2011 where it reached no. 21 in the iTunes download charts. The single was played on Radio 2 on Christmas Day on the Bob Harris show after which he promptly asked her to come in to Radio 2 to perform a live session in the new year.

The session will now kick off what is set to be an exceptional tour with special guest narrators and musicians joining the JT Band as they visit each city. Expect a magical, mischievous, creatively enchanting experience and tons of incredible music.
