POLARSETS

Since forming in 2010, Whitley Bay residents Polarsets have released two critically acclaimed singles; their debut ‘Sunshine Eyes’ and sophomore release ‘Morning’ via US tastemakers Neon Gold Records. The trio now return with the ‘Exotica EP’ due out June 18th on Euphonios Records.

Following the release of their first two singles Polarsets completed two successful UK tours. In addition to playing shows across the globe the band have garnered much support throughout the blogsphere as well as from the likes of Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe – who declared debut single ‘Sunshine Eyes’ as a “Next Hype-Track”. Polarsets continue with their indie-pop sound, the 4-track ‘Exotica’ EP sees the trio explore a more escapist, laid back and synth-heavy route whilst keeping true to their infectious dance heritage. Lead tracks ‘Tropics’ and ‘Distance’ perfectly highlight the band’s ability to create cacophonous indie-dancefloor beats with an underlying chilled-out focus that moulds 4 tracks into a lush sea of tropical synths.

SHIELDS

"Twists and turns abound in the harmonically rich and innovative guitar pop/art rock of Shields – whose songs defy the listener to walk away without a chorus replaying in their mind. Working with Grammy award winning producer Adrian Busby, whose credits include Foo Fighters, U2 and Muse, Shields self-released their debut single ‘Spires’ in the summer of 2011 which received support from Zane Lowe, who heralded the track as his ‘Next Hype.’ The follow up release ‘White Knuckle Tight Grip’ gave the band their first daytime national radio exposure. Shields recently supported US cult band Dispatch on their UK and European Tour and have a string of festival dates lined up this year.
